What do you get?
The RAC offer two levels of european breakdown cover, a basic service and a comprehensive one.
Basic cover offers:
- Roadside assistance (fix at roadside or tow to nearest garage)
- Repatriation of your vehicle and passengers back to the UK (there is, however, a £250 excess to pay should you need this service.)
- Garage labour up to the value of £150
- Motoring legal expenses insurance
Comprehensive cover offers:
- All the things listed in basic cover above, plus..
- Repatriation of your vehicle and passengers back to the UK (NO excess to pay, however, if the cost of recovery is higher than the market value of the car you would be given the value of your vehicle.)
- Cover from your home address right up to when you arrive home after your trip to Europe.
- Alternative travel costs if your car cannot be fixed in a given time.
- Up to £40 per day (max £1,200) towards onwards travel including either car hire or train tickets
- Accommodation while your car is being repaired (up to £40 per day max £400).
- Replacement driver, should the driver or none of the passengers be able to drive.
- Cost of colleting vehicle left abroad for repairs (up to £500).
The RAC offers 5% online discount and a further 10% discount if you are an excisting RAC member.
